Original palette knife painting

Growing up in Michigan I always loved visiting the upper peninsula, especially during the fall. Seeing the gorgeous colors from the trees was always a special experience. This painting represents the best time of year along Lake Michigan. While painting this piece I looked from a photo I took while backpacking up north, but instead of copying the green summer trees, I mixed luscious gold, orange, and brown shades. Not only was this my first autumn painting with knives, but it was also my first time painting birch trees.
